No more excuses

Blogging for me has been both exciting and frustrating. It is exciting when I am actively writing and being a blogger, which is not very often, and frustrating when I procrastinate and let other things get in the way, which to date, has been mostly the case. I started this blog in 2012 and since then, I have let roadblocks, procrastination and excuses get in the way of sharing my thoughts through writing. Now that I have updated my blog into the new interface, I am ready to get started again.

Even though my inability to write consistently has been very frustrating, I see this as a sign that for whatever reason, I needed to grow as a person and as a writer before re-starting my blogging aspirations in earnest. One of the main reasons that I got distracted from writing was that, shortly after creating my blog, I took up a position in the Western Australian government, which was interesting and challenging. However, the job involved long hours in a demanding environment, which made it difficult to find the time and the motivation to write.

It is now July 2020 and life could not be more different. In the past year I have suffered from extreme anxiety which led me to quit my job. I have since been on a journey of discovery with the help of a great therapist and I will soon be going back to studies and engage with what I love – writing, researching and learning.

2020 will forever be connected to the Corona Virus pandemic and the way it has changed the way we live. As we grapple with finding a cure, learning to live in isolation from each other, and finding ways to keep ourselves entertained at home, I have also learnt the value of slowing down, in finding joy and beauty in the simple things and being grateful for what I have.

The past year has been one of discovery and growth and I am confident that this new chapter in my life will be full of opportunities and adventures. I look forward to sharing some of my thoughts through these pages.
